Knauf Hydro Flex Liquid Foil Waterproof Tanking Membrane is a one-component, ready-to-use highly plastic liquid waterproof tanking membrane for wall and floor surfaces under ceramic tiles. Although the tiles themselves are impermeable to water, the joints between them are not 100% waterproof. Even with very precise grouting, there are micro-gaps between the tiles through which moisture can penetrate. This is a simple path to the growth of fungi and mold. To avoid this, it is best to insulate the surface under the tiles with Knauf Hydro Flex liquid foil. The foil creates a waterproof layer that acts as a barrier to moisture and prevents it from penetrating the substrate.

INSTALLATION

• The substrate must be dry, clean and dust-free,
• Choose the wet zones, such as the entire floor surface, areas around the shower tray, washbasins or bathtubs,
• Prime the substrate; dilute the Hydro Flex in a ratio 1:4 with water, prime the wet zones with a brush or roller,
• Let the primed surface to dry for 3 hours,
• Fix sealing tapes to wall-floor joints,
• Tape overlap must be at least 2 cm,
• Fix internal/external corner sealing stripes where necessary,
• Fix sealing tapes around pipes and other protruding objects and holes, 
• Apply Hydro Flex straight from the tub to the surface of the wet zones,
• After laying tiles on the walls, apply Hydro Flex liquid foil waterproofing to the floor. Repeat all the activities when insulating the walls. First, prime the diluted liquid foil, three hours after priming, apply the first layer of proper waterproofing, wait 3 hours for the foil to dry and finally apply the second layer.
