Novia Methane Pro Gas Barrier DIY Kit

Novia Methane Pro High Performance Gas Barrier Membrane is a premium specification multi-layer laminate membrane incorporating reinforcement and an aluminium foil core for use as a methane and CO gas barrier in groundwork applications. It can also be used in radon gas barrier and damp proof membrane applications. It is compliant for BS 8485:2015 requirements. Novia Methane Pro is CE approved as a damp proof membrane. Novia Methane Pro membrane joints must be professionally installed in conjunction with Novia 2-tape sealing system to ensure a fully compliant gas tight seal.

The DIY Kit consists of:

• 1 x Novia Methane Pro High Performance Gas Barrier,
• 5 x Novia Double sided Butyl Tape,
• 1 x Novia Metallised BOPP Tape

CHARACTERISTICS

• Complies with BS EN 13967 Type A DPM.

APPLICATION

• Methane, Radon and CO gas barrier in groundwork applications

INSTALLATION

• Ensure the surface is dry and dust free before unrolling the first piece of membrane.
• Once the membrane is flat, apply the 50mm double-sided butyl tape approximately 50mm from the edge and temporarily leave the backing paper on.
• Prepare the top section of methane barrier by once again ensuring the surface underneath is dry and dust free.
• Then lay this section of membrane with a 150mm overlap onto the first section and join them together by peeling off the backing paper of the double sided butyl tape and pressing them very firmly together.
• Where the two membrane joints overlap, the excess must be held in place using Novia BOPP lap sealing tape.
• Carefully apply Novia BOPP tape equidistant over the edges of the two membranes ensuring there are no wrinkles or gaps and then apply firm pressure to complete the seal.
• All other edges and entry points must be sealed in the same manner.
• Any damage or patches must also be sealed using the same techniques.
• Always reapply any tapes that are not 100% correctly sealed. Once installation is complete, the gas barrier should be protected as soon as possible to prevent any accidental damage.

Note: This membrane is not suitable for applications where hydrostatic pressure is present.
